At the age of seven, he started playing the cornet and has played with various school bands, and at the age of twelve, he joined his first full brass band. Being a young man with good prospects, he says he is now looking forward to playing regularly with a full adult band. Matthew is also currently the Repiano Cornet player with <A HREF="http://www.mybb.org.uk/" TARGET="_top" TITLE="http://www.mybb.org.uk/"><U>Macclesfield Youth Band</U></A>.
