After being outnumbered by boys in the band, she moved to Tarporley Band on tenor horn. Six years later, she  joined the Berisfords Band on cornet until 1996 when she left for the birth of her daughter,   Samantha. It wasn't long before she was involved again as Contest Secretary until the band folded in 1999. The following year she made the move to Marton and Silk Brass playing 3rd cornet.
