2nd Cornet
Alan Gooder
Joined Silk Brass 1997
Previous Bands:-
Berisfords 1968 - 1996
Silk Brass 1997 -
Player Profile:-
As Alan is quick to state "I've been playing since Moses was a boy - and always on cornet"......... - I think we'll leave most of this to Alans own comments (or maybe Claires!) "I have had a long and illustrious playing career and have now been promoted from the front row to second 2nd cornet, a position I've been aiming for for the past few years".
Alan is clearly a bandsman through and through. Beginning his career with Berisfords and remaining loyal for nearly thirty years right through to the bitter end. Maybe he was just waiting for the day in the 1990s' for Claire, (our Flugal player) to join him on the front row!! In the time he spent with Berisfords, he's played at the Nationals twice - winning once. As Berisfords Band progressed, Alan participated in the Belle View Contests and won three contests in three years.
Alan has also been to Austria five times with Berisfords and Silk, and the last time proudly suggests he was awarded the 'Freedom of the city of Lermoos' - "Well they gave me a badge anyway." says Alan!
Personal comments:-
"The most wonderful thing about my playing career is that's how I met my marvelous wife Claire - Silk's flugel player and we've been married now for 15 glorious years." (P.S. This bit was written by Claire!!)
