Silk Brass are always looking to appoint new players to their ranks, especially a Solo Horn player to replace Les Manning, who, after years of dedicated service, has retired from playing to concentrate on travel. The band is also looking for a secnd cornet player.

Bob Goodwin, Silk's Bandmaster said “We are a dedicated and very friendly band, and I can honestly say you'll never be bored at Silk - our music is varied and at times demanding, and we are constantly looking for new challenges to take us forward - in recent months we have replaced or refurbished all of our instruments, released our second CD and recorded a session for BBC Radio 2.”
As well as hoping to attract new talent, Silk are also aware that over recent years a number of local bands have folded and players have given up. Bob stated- “for many players, banding has been in their blood and this would be a wonderful opportunity for some very talented individuals to come out of retirement and take up a fantastic hobby again”
Silk Brass are based at Marton on the A34 between Congleton and Alderley Edge. Members travel from many areas including Manchester, Whaley Bridge, Buxton, Stoke and Crewe, and so assistance with travel is a distinct possibility.
